First-come, first-served federal campgrounds

838 campgrounds in the federal record take no reservations at all. Every site is first-come: you arrive, you find an open site, you pay at the station or online as the listing directs. There is no way to hold one — and no site, including this one, can tell you whether a site will be open when you get there. What the record can tell you is where these campgrounds are and what they have.

The honest playbook: arrive midweek or before midday on weekends, have a second campground picked nearby (every campground page here lists its nearest federal neighbors), and check the listing’s own description for season notes before you drive.
