Directions, from the listing
From Highway 200 (recommended):
Turn South at the Garnet Range Road located between mile markers 22 and 23, approximately 30 miles east of Missoula. Parking is available for trailers and unloading snowmachines. Visitors must walk/ski/ride around the entrance gate, and follow the Range Road for approximately 11 miles to Garnet. This route is ungroomed, and you may encounter other snowmachines on the trail. This route gains approximately 1500ft of elevation in 11 miles, and skiers and snowshoers should be prepared for moderate inclines.
From Interstate 90:
Take either the Drummond (Exit 154) or Bearmouth (Exit 138) exit. Then follow the North side frontage road to Bear Gulch Road. Approximately 7.5 miles up Bear Gulch road is a cleared area where wheeled vehicles may park and snowmachines can be unloaded. This route is only plowed by local landowners, and may not be accessible to all vehicles. Use at your own risk. From here, ski or ride an additional 4 miles up Cave Gulch Road to reach Garnet Ghost Town. This portion of the trail is ungroomed and is more demanding on riders and skiers. There is no cell service available along this route. Visitors should not rely on map software to navigate. Use at your own risk.
